Bird Cherry is a deciduous tree to 14 metres tall so called because the fruits can only be eaten by birds. It develops a conical asymmetrical crown with hanging branches producing a stunning display of white flowers in May.

Known as a 'Wedding Cake Tree' as the branches grow in tiers. This is a small deciduous tree 1.5m tall with a 1.5m spread. Star shaped white flowers cover the tree from May onwards and in the autumn the green leaves turn purple.

Hazel is a large shrub used in hedgrows, coppiced for poles, i.e. bean poles or grown for it's hazel nuts. It's deciduous with large leaves, catkins in early spring and fast growing to about 5m. Hazel thrives in most soils and is exposure tolerant. It can be coppiced by cutting back to within one foot of the ground or cut back in late spring.

The Hornbeam is a small to medium size tree, reaching heights of 15-25m. It has dense foliage and tolerates cutting back which makes it an ideal 'tree' for tall hedges. Although deciduous, they retain their dead coppery coloured leaves through the winter thereby maintaining an effective screen. Hornbeam will grow readily in most soil types in partial shade to full sun.

This tree make a great specimen tree with it's unusually large yellow, turning green, leaves and white flowers in the summer. The holm oak is an evergreen oak. Sometimes it's mistakenly called a holly oak, as the leaves are similar to holly leaves. This is a very versatile tree as it can be grown as a short or tall hedge, used in avenues, planted as a specimen or used for topiary. It is also salt water tolerant and can be used in costal areas.

One of the faster growing oaks which in time will grow straight to 35m forming a narrow round topped head. The leaves are huge, about the same size as a hand and in autumn they turn a glourious rich red. They are tolerant of many soils and will reach about 5 metres in height in 10 years.

Fully matured, this is a tree with immense prescence, 38 metres tall, broad with heavy limbs. It's a fast growing deciduous tree with triangular leaves, flowering in April. An ideal tree to quickly form a windbreak or screen.

It can be grown successfully in clay but prefers moist deep loam soils. The roots of poplar trees are very vigorous and must be planted well away from drains and building foundations.

The common walnut is a large slow growing deciduous tree eventually attaining heights of around 30 metres but should reach 4 metres in ten years. When young, the bark is smooth, silvery grey and has large pinnate leaves which smell of shoe polish, making this an interesting ornamental tree for the garden. It forms a wide spreading tree bearing walnuts which ripen in long hot summers.

This willow is supplied as setts (hardwood cuttings) suitable for planting from the end of November to March. Setts are 300mm long (12") and are simply inserted into the ground where they will self root. This is a very vigourous and healthy variety of willow . These are sold in packs of 25, 50, 100, 200 & 500 cuttings.
