Flowers


Eucalyptus are trees that flower in the late spring and summer. They have clusters of small, spikey, delicate flowers that bees and insects love. The hardy varieties we grow all have white flowers, some of the less hardy have red flowers.

This is a small to medium tree which tolerates poor drainage. The clusters of flowering star formed buds can provide a fantastic display of white flowers.

Mature Height: 15m
Rate of Growth: 1-1.5m per year
Hardiness: *** -15°C +
Soil: Wet Tolerent
Position: Full Sun
Growth Habit: Single or multi-stemmed. Very dense crown.
Leaves: Young leaves are rounded and dark green, adult leaves are lanceolate and dark green, sometimes glossy.
Bark: Lower bark is rough, brown to black. Bark on upper trunk is smooth and olive green and white.
Special Interest: Screening, Hedge, Can be Container Grown

Beautiful, rare ornamental speciman and the only Eucalyptus with red flowers hardy enough for the UK. A versitile tree when it comes to soil conditions, fragrant leaves and smooth mottled bark.

NOTE: Hardiness rating -5C - 10C but as yet untested by us. Grow in a sheltered position or as a potted tree which can be moved under cover to overwinter.

Rate of Growth: Medium 1-1.5m per year

Soil: Wet tolerant, Salt tolerant, Dry tolerant
Position: Full Sun, Sheltered postion
Growth Habit: Clear trunk with bushy, dense canopy
Leaves: Thin and glossy dark green/grey
Bark: Smooth, yellow/grey with mottled creamy white patches

Bushy tree with gorgeous large, pale silver-blue leaves. It is lime tolerant and can be densely planted to provide a very effective windbreak. This is a very wind tolerant tree, good for coastal areas.

Also used as an ornamental tree for its leaves and profusion of white flowers in late Summer to Autumn.

Also known as Eucalyptus parvifolia. A good variety for cold hardiness, wet, infertile soils and lime tolerance. It has smaller leaves than most Eucalyptus and unusual in that the crown retains many of the juvenile green leaves. Produces a profusion of white flowers in Summer.

Soil: Acid Tolerant, Lime Tolerant
Position: Wind Tolerant
Growth Habit: A small tree which tends to develop a large crown with semi -drooping branches. Dense foliage.
Leaves: Small glossy green.
leavesBark: The bark is grey generally smooth which tends to shed in the upper branches.
Special Interest: Hedge, Can be Container Grown, Can be Coppiced, Floristry, Produces masses of flowers - good for bees and insects.
